The business results of Free Zone Pirot will be even better in 2022 and the Free Zone Pirot will expand with the arrival of new investors. It is obvious that 2022 will be better also due to investment projects of users, primarily Tigar Tires, which should increase their capacity, which indicates that the results in exports will be better.
Despite the difficulties caused by the Pandemic, the results of the Free Zone Pirot in 2021 are better than the previous year. It is recorded the second highest result during last twenty years of work. The largest turnover of the users of the zone so far was 980 million euros, and in 2021 it was close to 800 million euros, of which about 450 million euros was export.
The area occupied by the Free Zone Pirot is about 140ha and in 2021 there were about 80 companies. The decline in the number of trade companies is also evident, because the international trade has also decreased in the past period, but the remaining companies have increased their volume, so having in mind the Pandemic, we have passed without serious consequences so far. The main trade users operating in the Pirot Free Zone are from Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey, and these are our target markets for trade users.
We are cooperating with domestic Free Zones, and the representatives of free zones from Republika Srpska, who came to us last year to help them with the establishment of the zone and were very interested in the necessary conditions for the successful functioning of the free zone.
In the next period, new locations will be sought for the expansion of the Free Zone Pirot, using new modern models that exist in Europe and in our country.
