In a difficult year due to the epidemiological situation, the Free Zone Pirot performed better than last year. The total turnover this year is around 800 million euros, the export of companies operating in the Zone is 420 million euros, and the Joint Stock Company for Management of the Free Zone Pirot made a profit of 45 million dinars.
The Group of Free Zones of Serbia held a session on December 17, 2021, and according to the achieved results, the Free Zone Pirot is the second in Serbia. The first is the Free Zone of Subotica, but a very important fact is the total turnover from the Free Zones of Serbia of about 4.5 billion euros, which represents 15% of the revenue of the Republic of Serbia.
This year, more than 35,000 trucks passed through the Pirot Zone, so better conditions were created for truck drivers, by equipping toilets and other necessary premises.
Although some small companies that operated in the Free Zone Pirot stopped working, other companies were opened in their place. Investors are preparing to create a new investment cycle in Serbia. The health and epidemiological situation is a big obstacle, but there are requests for doing business in the Free Zone Pirot and we are responding to the requests. The mayor announced that the companies that cooperate with the Benetton company want to come to the Zone, and we will talk about that during January.
