This year, the fifth international BgSklad conference was held in Sofia on May 14, 2025, with a focus on Bulgaria’s entry into the Schengen Area and its impact on logistics, investments, and the business environment.
During the first panel, participants exchanged experiences and assessments regarding investment incentives, Chinese investments in the region, the importance of free zones for investors, and opportunities for effective cooperation between companies and institutions from the region in the upcoming period. Vladan Stojanović from the Pirot Free Zone took part in this international panel— which attracted considerable attention—alongside speakers from Bulgaria, Greece, and Romania.
The Free Zone Pirot, along with the broader concept of Serbian free zones, could play a significant role in attracting investments from Asia in the coming period, considering the proximity to the European Union market, strong long-term cooperation with Chinese companies, and numerous logistics projects aligned with the “One Belt, One Road” initiative. Moreover, collaboration between institutions and companies from the region can significantly contribute to more efficient investment attraction and participation in future or enhanced logistics supply chains.
